Discover the diversity of southeast Alaska’s landscape as you fly over the rainforest and granite peaks that surround the Juneau Icefield. This trip is a non-strenuous, 1-hour interpretive walk with stable boots and crampons. Your professional guide provides the opportunity to learn about the history and geology of the area as you trek across the icy terrain.. There is plenty of time for photo opportunities of blue crevasses, in front of massive ice walls, and drink pure glacial water straight from the source. The amount of walking is moderate, over relatively flat to rolling terrain.
You will be outfitted with top quality mountaineering gear for your adventure. Rain and wind-proof jacket and pants, gloves, hard shell mountaineering boots provided for your comfort while on the ice. Crampons and a trekking pole are provided for superb balance and traction, enabling you to travel easily over the gently rolling landscape. A hip-pack with tissues, a granola bar, and bottled water are also provided.
Take off from the heliport in a modern turbine helicopter, soaring over the glaciers of the 1500 square-mile Juneau Icefield. The scenic terrain of mountain peaks and glacier icefalls and crevasses is revealed through the extraordinary visibility of the helicopter. The blue of the glacial lakes is spectacular. Your helicopter guide will explain the glacier features you will be seeing up-close and personal.

- Must be physically fit and able to walk over uneven surfaces for about an hour.
- Minimum age 8.
