Experience the pristine wilderness of Southeast Alaska on a private off-road trail allowing unique access to the alpine regions of Haines.
This family-friendly adventure includes our famous beer-battered halibut and roasted chicken meal.
Arrive at the trail head where your knowledgeable guide will instruct your family’s driver on how to operate the Kawasaki Mules. Don’t want to drive? No problem! We can accommodate those who want to ride along and just enjoy the views!
Begin your journey through the lush rain forest with scenic views peeking through the trees as you navigate 17 switchbacks to reach an elevation of 1,100 feet for your first stop at our exclusive mountain lodge. Here you’ll take in the breathtaking views of the beautiful Lynn Canal and Coastal mountain range. You’ll also be treated to fresh baked cookies straight out of the oven along with coffee, hot chocolate, tea and lemonade.
Continuing on your journey you will see cascading watrfalls, and scenic views until you reach the 1,500 feet elevation and catch your breath at the stunning vista of Chilkoot Lake and the Lutak inlet. A gorgeous alpine meadow awaits those who wish to take a short hike up the hillside to enjoy the wildflowers that soak up the sunshine at this higher elevation.
Upon your return to the lodge you will be served a deliciously prepared beer-battered halibut and roasted chicken meal. Vegetarian meals and special dietary requests are available with a 24-hour notice.
Requirements
- Drivers must be 21 years old and have a valid driver's license
- All participants must sign a waiver.
- Must be able to walk over uneven terrain and climb steps to enter bus transportation.
Other Information
Trip Activities: Driving/riding along a private trail with stops for scenic viewing and brief hiking. Includes snack and lunch or dinner.
Duration: If starting in Haines approximately 4 hours. If starting in Skagway approximately 6.5 hours (including ferry trip).
Tour Operator Provides: ATVs, guide, snacks and meals, rain gear if needed.
You Bring: Camera and adventuresome spirit.
