Your naturalist guide will show you the basics of paddling and get you properly outfitted while you take in the amazing scenery. Soon you will be in a 2-person kayak, gliding silently along the shores of the lake with the sounds of nature surrounding you.

This pristine lake is uncrowded, and the scenery is spectacular. Huge waterfalls spill from the cliffs surrounding the lake, lush green forests crowd the shoreline, and wildlife abounds.

Pause along the shore, where your guide will reveal the secret workings of the rainforest. Beginning in July, sockeye salmon spawn in one of the clear streams that feed into the lake. Eagles and bears are often attracted to this spot, and you will be able to view all the activity from your kayak.

Enjoy a box lunch after paddling back to shore and before driving bac to Haines filled with memories and pictures from an unforgettable adventure!the Chilkoot River fills with migrating salmon, while brown bears come down to the river's edge to feed. As the number of salmon in the river increases, the likelihood of seeing bears down along the river increases, with a good probability of bear sightings from mid-August through late September.
